Petitioning To Put An End To The Social Care Crisis

I started Complete Care Chesterfield because I wanted to ensure that I could play a small part in improving the care available to those in need after seeing first hand how hard it was to look after someone with dementia for 15 years. Myself and Mum were fortunate in that we were able to receive assistance although not without a fight, unfortunately it is estimated that 1.4 million people go without the care they need every day.

Multiple reports have highlighted the increasing financial gaps in the care system and these are only set to get worse with an ageing population, for example there are now one fifth more individuals over the age of 85 than there was in 2010. 850,000 people in the UK now live with dementia , at this rate there will be a £4.4bn funding gap in England for social care by 2023/2024.

I believe that everybody should have access to the care that they need and that an increase in funding is required to support this and to avoid the growing shortage of social care workers which is predicted to reach 290,000 by 2030 according to the NHS.

This is why I’ve signed the NHS Confederations petition calling for the government to take action to end the escalating care crisis. So far this petition has been signed by over 150,000 members of the public and more than 50 health leaders in what is the largest public petition of it’s kind.
